According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.
Food Contact Substance: 2,4-Bis[(dodecylthio)methyl]-6-methylphenol (CAS Reg. No. 110675-26-8).

Intended Use: As an antioxidant or stabilizer in various food contact materials., except for use in contact with infant formula and human milk (see Limitations/Specifications).
Limitations/Specifications: For use in:
  1. adhesives compliant with 21 CFR 175.105 for all food types under Conditions of Use (COU) A through H;
  2. pressure-sensitive adhesives compliant with 21 CFR 175.125 at levels not to exceed 1.0 percent by weight for all food types under COU A through H;
  3. polystyrene and rubber-modified polystyrene compliant with 21 CFR 177.1640 at levels not to exceed 0.1 percent by weight for all food types and COU A through H; and
  4. styrene block polymers compliant with 21 CFR 177.1810 at levels not to exceed 0.3 percent for food types I, II, IV-B, VI, VII-B and VIII under COU C through H.
The FCS is not for use in contact with infant formula and human milk. Such uses were not included as part of the intended use of the substance in the FCN.
